I love scents and trying out new perfumes but I do have many top favorites for different occasions. Descriptions are from the Sephora website, Fragrantica, or Neimans.
“Finding a man on a night out”
Black Orchid by Tom Ford
Key Notes: Black Truffle, Black Orchid, Plum
Fragrance Description: Black Orchid Eau De Parfum opens with aphrodisiacal black truffle and narcotic ylang ylang—touched with effervescent bergamot and bitter orange. Rum-soaked, sweet black plum surrounds the perfume‘s black orchid extract, while woody patchouli and creamy vanilla wrap the orchid in rich warmth.
My comments: This is a very dark and sexy unisex fragrance and it will last for days. When it reactivates in the shower, I get a more fresh woodsy rum scent. I like this better on men than on me personally.
Gucci Guilty by Gucci
Key Notes: Lilac, Wild Strawberry
Fragrance Description: This fragrance has a milky and delicate heart of lilac now tinged with wild strawberry, while the musk base emulates the sultriness of bare skin. The perfume opens subtly with a warm aquatic accord and sweet lychee.
My comments: I back this one up as the “finding a man” scent because so many people I know have this on when they found their man! On initial spray I smell mostly the lilac and aquatic accord, then the subtle citrus of strawberry and lychee. The musk definitely brings them all together. It’s not too strong or light, it is at a perfect strength. It smells very sophisticated and alluring.
Baccarat Rouge 540
Key notes: Grandiflorum jasmine, Saffron, Bitter almond, Cedar wood, Musky woody accord, Ambergris
Fragrance description: The Baccarat Rouge 540 extrait de parfum augments the strength and radiance of the fragrance’s amber woody floral aura. In this exalted version of a signature scent, jasmine blossoms and woody musks engage in an alchemy of the senses. A profusion and fusion of the elements that can only be tamed by the art of the perfumer and time-tested wisdom.
My comments: I am not gonna lie, I am a bit nose-blind to this scent. I get a lot of the saffron, woody, and a soft sweet scent when I wear it. I don’t have anything like this in my collection and it smells so good on bare skin. This is a very hyped fragrance and I recommend dupes since it can be very expensive!
Linen Vetiver by Banana Republic
Top notes are Bergamot, Petitgrain and Cardamom; middle notes are iris, Hyacinth and Water Jasmine; base notes are Vetiver, Musk, Oakmoss and Crystal Amber.
Fragrance description: is a Woody Aromatic fragrance for women and men.
My comments: When I first smelled this fragrance, my head turned and I could not get it out of my mind, haha. It is a unisex fresh and floral fragrance but I think it leans more feminine.
Libre by YSL
Key Notes: Lavender Essence, Orange Blossom, Musk Accord
Fragrance Description: The new fragrance of freedom by Yves Saint Laurent combines lavender essence from France with the sensuality of Moroccan orange blossom, for a unique floral fusion complemented by a daring note of musk accord.
My comments: Hooooly when I first smelled this. It is a very sexy and unique scent. I mainly get the warm musk, orange blossom, and lavender. It is a bit strong and it lasts for days. This is definitely a night out scent I recommend.
Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier
Notes: Top notes are Orange Blossom, Star Anise, Rose, Mandarin Orange, Pear and Bergamot; middle notes are Ylang-Ylang, Ginger, Orchid, iris, Tuberose and Plum; base notes are Vanilla, Amber, Musk, Cinnamon and Sandalwood.
Fragrance description: is a Amber Floral fragrance for women.
My comments: This one is very similar to YSL Libre. However, I think it smells more sophisticated and sexy with the sandalwood. I think this is definitely a “we are gonna have fun tonight” scent, haha. It is strong and it is also long lasting.
Light and professional (aka everyday go to’s)
Flowerbomb Bloom by Viktor and Rolf
Notes: Top notes are Pomegranate and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Freesia, Mountain Air, Damask Rose and Jasmine; base note is Woody Notes.
Fragrance description: is a Floral fragrance for women
My comments: This is one of my current go-to’s. Its light floral and fruity and not super strong. It is an eau de toilette, so it doesn’t have the lasting power of a parfum. I smell a lot of the the citrus from the pomegranate and orange but also the rose and jasmine.
Miracle by Lancome
Notes: Top notes are Litchi and Freesia; middle notes are Magnolia, Pepper, Ginger, Mandarin Orange and Jasmine; base notes are Jasmine, Musk and Amber.
Fragrance description: is a Floral fragrance for women
My comments: This is my mom’s favorite scent and I can see why. It reminds me of Gucci Bamboo but more floral. The base notes of the musk and amber make it smell more mature but it is on the lighter side compared to Flowerbomb. The perfume is not super strong or light so I think it is at a good middle ground. To me, it is very similar to Versace’s Bright Crystal but I prefer this one more. This scent is an everyday go to and I recommend this one if anything, since it is so underrated!
Gucci Bamboo by Gucci
Key Notes: Italian Bergamot, Casablanca Lily, Sandalwood
Fragrance Description: Blooming with notes of exotic Casablanca lily and Tahitian vanilla, Gucci Bamboo Eau de Parfum‘s femininity is balanced by a resonating, woody, contrasting note of grey amber. Both soft and intense, the fragrance is a statement on the strong, graceful, and feminine woman it‘s destined for.
My comments: This is a gooood one. Compared to Miracle, it is less fruity and floral. When I think of a professional and sophisticated woman, I think of this scent. It is not super light or strong so I really recommend this one as well. This can also be an everyday go to scent.
Flirty and Sweet
Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf
Key Notes: Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Patchouli
Fragrance Description: This floral perfume for women explodes with an intoxicating whirl of cattleya, jasmine, and rose. The warm scent of patchouli and vanilla grounds the fresh fragrance, adding a sensual twist on the scent reminiscent of a room filled with rose petals.
My comments: This was my signature scent in college, haha. I still love it but it is a strong scent and the amber is really pronounced on dry down. I personally don’t like a stronger amber scent so this one is not an everyday. Hence, it is also long lasting. However, I love the unique scent the most when I first spray it on: jasmine, rose, patchouli, and vanilla. Truely a flower bomb, haha.
Sweet Like Candy by Ariana Grande
From Ulta:
Key Notes
Top – Sweet Addiction: Sparkling Blackberry, Italian Bergamot, Pear
Heart – Delightfully Dangerous: Jasmine Sambac, Frangipani, Dewy Honeysuckle
Base – Sexy Wink, Crème de Casis. Marshmallow, Cashmere Woods, Sexy Vanilla
My comments: This is one of my current go-to’s. It is a parfum, but it is on the lighter side. I love its initial smell of bergamot and blackberry. When it dries down, I can definitely smell more of the honeysuckle, marshmallow, and vanilla. This can be an everyday fragrance for day and night.
Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs
Key Notes:
Blackberry, Jasmine Flower, White Woods
Fragrance description: Light and airy, Daisy Dream captivates with its delectably fruity and floral personality. From the first hints of blackberry, fresh grapefruit, and succulent pear, Daisy Dream draws you in with her easy charm and an irresistibly feminine mix of jasmine flower, lychee, and blue wisteria. The fragrance lingers on the skin, drying down to a dreamy finish of white woods, musk, and an elusive hint of coconut water.
My comments: This is definitely a super light scent that doesn’t last sadly. However, I like how it smells, lmao. On spray, I get a strong raspberry (but the note is blackberry, haha), grapefruit, and pear. If you ever need happy aromatherapy, I recommend this.
On da beach
I am not a fan of coconut scents so this is the only beach like smell I will go for:
Light Blue by Dolce and Gabbana
Key Notes: Citrus, Apple, Bamboo
Fragrance Description: This colorful, fresh, floral fruity Eau de Toilette reflects the sensuality of the Mediterranean lifestyle. Sicilian cedar combines with the freshness of the green apple and the floral allure and spontaneity of the bluebell, the top note captures the essence of a sunny South Italian summer.
My comments: This is a light scent that doesn’t last sadly. I tried the intense version but it doesn’t smell the same as this. If there was a longer lasting version with the same smell, I would buy it. This fragrance is so unique to me. It reminds me of Mexican tajin and chammoy candy, lmao. Maybe it comes from the green apple and cedar. This is such a great beach and summer scent if you don’t like coconut, amber, or musky scents.
Aaaaand thats all my perfume recommendations! If you have any recommendations I should try please let me know, I am a scent junkie!
Love,
K
