Hello everyone! It has been a WHILE since I last posted on this blog. Life has been quite a roller coaster and if you follow my Instagram there is a small glimpse of that. I will do an update blog post section under Journal about what’s been going on in my life, so stay tuned for that!
***Disclaimer: Nothing is sponsored and everything is my own opinion! Everything has been purchased with my hard earned money and have been tested/used for long periods of time. Skin type: Combo Normal-Oily T-zone
Step 1: Cleanse ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆
Since I wear sunscreen and/or makeup everyday, I use a cleansing balm at night. Currently I am using Then I Met You’s famous cleansing balm. It is definitely a luxury experience with a dense periwinkle blue jar and the bright golden rod yellow color. It contains seaberry oil which is rich in fatty acids such as stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and omega-6. The cleansing balm also combines a blend of lightweight grape seed and olive oils. Hints of rosemary, persimmon and grapefruit make this a lovely aromatic experience.
However, a less expensive cleansing balm I also love is Elf’s Holy Hydration cleansing balm, which I will keep using after I finish the above. Elf often has sales so I highly recommend getting this on a sale; however, $10 regular price for 2oz of great product is a steal. Compare to Then I Met You’s cleansing balm, this one breaks into a thinner oilier consistency faster so it makes removing all my makeup a lot more easier. Elf’s cleansing balm also contains
If there is nothing on my face except oil and skincare, I will go into my favorite cleanser from Neutrogena’s Hydro boost line (great stuff), the gentle cleansing lotion. Double cleansing btw is super important! Even after using an oil cleanser or micellular wipe, you can still miss some grime on your face. So I always go in with this cleanser after! This is perfect for all skin types because it is gentle, non foaming, and doesn’t strip your skin dry.
Step 2: Tone ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆
Tbh, sometimes I skip this step when I am lazy but I am currently rotating between three:
I really like Meebak’s Cica toner! This is a newer brand that needs to be hyped up more and all their products are made in South Korea! The spray is to die for and I would consider repurchasing it in the future. It contains ingredients such as centella asiatica (cica extract), ceramide NP, and tocopherol (Vitamin E). It also has a fresh natural scent, and you can use it to set makeup. Cica, or Tiger Grass, repairs damaged and ultra-sensitive skin. Cica effectively rebuilds the skin barrier, restores moisture balance, and even smooths out skin texture. In fact, the plant has been used for thousands of years as an herbal remedy to calm and soothe the skin. If you click on this link, you will get 30% off your order! 😍
I am also using the Fresh Deep Hydration Rose toner. It is very luxurious and I got a mini size from a gift set, but I wouldn’t repurchase it due to price. It has a lot of floating rose petals in the bottle, but only the liquid is dispensable. It also has fragrance on top of the natural rose scent so I wouldn’t recommend it to those with sensitive skin.
Step 3: Treatment (optional) ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆
I’ve suffered from blackheads all my life its seems and tried so many things. But this product is all you need. It seriously gets rid of them as well as bumps underneath the skin and breakouts! Plus my pores have gotten smaller due to this! If you are suffering from acne, this is the one thing, if anything you need to get from my recommendations!
Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid lives up to its hype and constant ads, lol. There are a lot of 2% BHA treatments out there but I love this one because it has a toner liquid consistency so it seamless and light weight to apply. I like to use 2-3 times a week to keep blackheads at bay.
Step 4: Serum ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆
For night serums, I use CeraVe’s Resurfacing retinol serum and Purito’s Centella Unscented serum. Incorporating retinol into my skincare routine has also been a skin game changer! This one is inexpensive and has ceramides, licorice root extract, and niacinamide. Retinols can be drying so the ceramides and peptides are great for nourishing the skin. If I am using retinol, I do not use BHAs since using too many active ingredients at once might be to harsh on the skin.
I love the Purito Centella Unscented Serum because it is the unscented version, has niacinamide, ceramides, peptides, and 49% centella extract. The formula has a watery texture so it feels great on the skin. Purito is an afforable skincare brand from South Korea with amazing formulations. I love to use this on nights when I am not using a BHA or retinol.
Step 5: Eye cream ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆
Eye cream isn’t a necessary step as long as you have a good moisturizer. However, I am finishing Sweet Chef’s Tumeric Vitamin C Eye Booster Cream. It has a wonderful texture, not too thick and not too rich to clog pores. You can you this during the day or night. It is a great splurge item that wont break the bank at a retail price of $18.
I also currently use Pixi’s Collagen eye serum.
It has quite an interesting consistency. It squeezes out as like a sticky gel but after contacting the skin, it becomes a water-like serum. It dries a little tacky, but that is fine because next we will add moisturizer!
Step 6: Moisturizer ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆
I still stand by the Aqua combination watery cream that I’ve been using the past 2 years. If you would like a in-depth review on this cream click here. However, after diving into the world of skincare, I also found a lot more moisturizers I love!
For the night time, I like to use a more thicker moisturizer since my skin is more normal now. My favorite splurge moisturizer is Fresh’s Deep Hydration Rose Cream. It smells like fresh roses and its not too fragrant. The consistency is what made me love this product- it feels like a water based thick mask that makes you feel you are at a spa. After a while, it dries down to a non sticky thinner texture, so it is great for more oily skin types. I am currently on my second jar and savoring it!
An affordable night time moisturizer I stand by is Elf’s Holy Hydration Cream. Always get it on sale and it comes down to less than $10! I always get the non fragranced version and I love its thicker whipped consistency. However, it applies on the skin with a thin and non greasy feel. It has great ingredients like squalane, peptides, and niacinamide. I am on my second jar of this and I will be continuing to purchase this cream in the future.
Pro tip: Squalane helps repair your skin’s lipid layer, which you already started to strip at when cleansing. It took me years to realize stripping your skin of all its oils is going to make it worse and make you even more oil! Its a never ending cycle! So even if you have very oily skin, you still need to add back some good oils to your face (believe me, that used to be me).
Step 7: Lip balm ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆
Going to South Korea definitely changed my skincare game. From finding an affordable replacement for the water cream, I found an even better replacement for Tatcha’s camelia lip balm– Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask.
This is well worth the hype. But please save your money, and do not buy it from Sephora where it is over priced at $20. I bought mine for about $11 elsewhere (always price research and look out for sales!). They come in different versions but my favorite is the grapefruit. 😍 You get 20 grams and it is a huge amount! I have been using this nonstop since April and I am only half way down the tub. It is marketed as a “mask” but you can use this as a lipbalm 24/7. It leaves a beautiful glossy finish but feels like a balm. I also use this on any dry spots I have on my body like Vaseline lol.
Another lip product that I stan so hard is Elf’s CBD Lip Oil. Lip oils are a trend right now and almost every brand is coming out with them. I love this one for the price (again when elf has a sale add this to your cart) and how it feels on the lips. It has a sweet mint smell and glides on the lips seamlessly. It is clear and feels more like an oil than other lip oil products. Some lip oil products on the market feel thicker, more like a gloss or balm. However Elf’s lip oil feels like a nourishing and thin on the lips. I also like to use this product to prep for other lip products on top.
Aaaaand thats my entire night time skin care routine! I stan these products and I am always on the lookout for clean and good ingredient skin care products for a great price. Let me know what skin products you guys rave about or products you see here you might want to try! Thank you for reading to this point! 🥰
